Police K-9 Units

We offer all K-9 police dogs and even Pawcifer Donut (only police cat we know of) and their handlers with free food, treats and chiro appointments to keep them healthy and active to do their job keeping us all safe! We love working with units in Hazel Park, Warren, Troy and other metro Detroit cities. We have supported the PLEA Foundation as well. 

Adopt-A-Pet Partners

We offer a free bag of healthy pet food and a $10 credit towards a nutrition seminar to pets who’ve been adopted from the following local rescues*:

Ferndale Cat Shelter

The Ferndale Cat Shelter is a no-kill, 501c3 non-profit operating in South Oakland County. Through donations and the dedication of their volunteers and fosters, they rescue vet, and house cats and kittens in and around the city of Ferndale. By collaborating with other local rescues and veterinary clinics, they have created a network of volunteers that has provided medical care, food, and shelter to hundreds of cats and kittens including TNR assistance to local communities. Through their foster and adoption processes, they have re-homed over 150 cats and kittens in less than one year of operation.

Michigan Greyhound Connection is committed to finding responsible and loving adoptive homes for retired racing greyhound dogs and educating the public about the inhumane treatment of these dogs by the greyhound racing industry. In support of this mission, Michigan Greyhound Connection actively opposes organized greyhound racing and all associated activities that contribute to the death of thousands of greyhounds.

NBS Animal Rescue

NBS Animal Rescue is a 100% foster based canine rescue that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of healthy, well-balanced, dogs and puppies into loving families. Their primary goals include the rescue and rehabilitation of homeless animals in need, educating the community about proper pet care, and participating in community youth outreach programs.

New Beginnings Animal Rescue

New Beginnings Animal Rescue (NBAR) was founded in 2010 for the overwhelming number of people who need help caring for or re-homing their companion animals. NBAR is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and fosters to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals. Their mission is to serve Southern Oakland County communities as a no-kill rescue organization that finds suitable homes for indoor companion animals.

P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue was founded in 2011. It is an all-breed, 501c3, foster-based dog rescue that runs 100% on donations. P.O.E.T.’s mission is to educate individuals on the needs of their pets and the growing problem of pet overpopulation, to rescue and save the unwanted dogs and puppies that are crowding our shelters, and to prevent future pet surrenders to kill shelters through education about spaying and neutering companion animals, responsible purchasing and adopting, behavior modification and solutions to behavior problems, and resources to help owners keep their pets and in general become better pet parents.

Dr. Greear is the lead Veterinarian here at the Woodhaven Animal Hospital. She specializes in holistic treatments and has an extensive background working with cancer patients. Dr. Greear grew up in Ohio and studied veterinary medicine at Michigan State. Dr. Greear has always wanted to take care of those that don’t have a voice of their own. Opening and running her own practice has been her passion for a number of years. Dr. Greear is married and has four wonderful and extremely active boys that are all involved in sports. When she’s not at the hospital you’ll find her being THAT sports mom, yelling and screaming, cheering them on. Dr. J, North Suburban Veterinary Hospital

Dr. W.D. Jaxtheimer graduated from Michigan State University with high honors in 1969. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Veterinarian Medical Association and South East Veterinary Medical Association. He has owned his Veterinary practice for 31 years. Dr. Jaxtheimer opened his Sterling Heights location in 1978.
