What Does It Mean To Be "Made in the USA"?

With recent concerns about harmful additives in pet foods from countries like China and uncertainty about what a claim of "Made In America" actually includes, we wanted to share with you some of our favorite brands that come closest to not only being made in America but also sourced in America. 

Made in the USA. It's a claim that garners attention when looking for the highest in quality and safety in pet food. But not all "Made in the USA" product claims meet the same criteria. With recent concerns about harmful additives in pet foods from countries like China and uncertainty about what a claim of "Made In America" actually includes, we wanted to share with you some of our favorite brands that come closest to not only being made in America but also sourced in America. 

Made & Sourced in the USA

Although some pet foods packaged in America are advertised as Made in America, they can actually contain ingredients sourced from other countries. Ideally, you want to look for brands that use ingredients sourced from the US to get closest to truly being Made in the USA. Even when an item is packaged and sourced mainly domestically, it can still contain vitamins and minerals from international companies. Certain vitamins, due to demands and consolidation in the market, are only sourced by one or two providers.

 

Orijen
