We rarely think of the toxins that are all over our homes. It is a vast array of chemicals we live in. Some we unwittingly have without even realizing we are bringing these home for our pets to absorb into their lungs and through their skin or through their digestive systems. They are so much smaller than adults so like children, they experience more toxic build up. Improve the health of your pets and help them live longer by removing toxins in your home and lawn.

The 7 Toxins That Are Hurting Your Pet Right Now Are:
1. Use glass or stainless when feeding them. Avoid the plastic in the bowls as it contains chemicals that disrupt the endocrine system.
2. Avoid carpets with scotch guard and other chemicals which are known carcinogens. It can take months to dissipate the gas of formaldehyde.
3. Use steam cleaning for carpets and to freshen use baking soda in place of those scented products.
4. We have a ton of chemicals in our water system from drugs like birth control pills to all kinds of bacteria, lead etc. Filtering tap water removes heavy metals, chlorine, and nitrates. I like the Pur Pitcher for the economy minded or the Aquasana filters for under sink filtration.
5. Use safe and natural pet shampoos that don't carry harmful chemicals. A simple shampoo can be made with baking soda, a little vinegar and water . Adding some food grade essential oils can scent it if you prefer but once it dries the vinegar smell goes away.
6. Purchase non-toxic toys and avoid ones made overseas. Wash their new bed before it is used to eliminate some of the toxic chemicals that make them look new.
7. Eliminate spraying insecticides and applying chemicals on lawns and trees. This is especially important if your animals spend a good deal of time outdoors. A great natural weed killer is boiling hot white vinegar. Just be careful that your pets are inside while doing your weeding. Often times just a little liquid dish detergent mixed in water can be sprayed on plants as an insecticide with good results.
By taking these small steps you will not only be helping your pet by reducing toxins but also helping limit your own exposure to toxins. You will be helping your pet breathe easier and live longer.
