Do you have pets at home? 

I have three cats who are my whole heart. Shortly after moving to Michigan, I got Willow my first cat who is ginger and white. She was just napping in a chair on a friend's porch and once I met her I was a goner. She is the sweetest most cuddly cat. Willow is my stubborn child, I have to coax her with Parmesan cheese, if we change the food. My second cat is Luna. She is black. She's my sneaky cat. We got her from someone who took care of a stray that had kittens. We needed a friend for Willow. Her favorite toy is the pumpkin Himalayan toy. She carries it around by the stem for hours. She is our timid baby so having her explore and play with toys like that is always a joy to see. A month after getting her we got Marco. He is a Florida native who rode back with me on a plane from Florida. After a rocky start with some behavioral issues, he is now the sweetest cuddle bug who loves our Tiki Cat Purees.

Why did you want to work for The Pet Beastro?

After seeing the job posting online and then meeting the staff, and seeing the store (everyone was so nice). I was ecstatic! I could not wait to start working at a natural pet food store and learn as much as I could and meet all the dogs I knew would come in!

What have you learned by working at The Pet Beastro?

I have learned about pet care and nutrition. I have grown up around animals throughout my life and I never knew much about their nutritional needs. All pets have specific dietary needs especially if there are any health issues. I love learning about all of our customer's pets and hearing their stories. I'm so excited to learn more!

What is your favorite part of your job at The Pet Beastro?

Meeting all the wonderful people and pets! I have three cats, so I live vicariously through all of our dog owners. Giving them treats and meeting new puppies or even occasional kitties will always be the best part of my day! My phone is getting full of animal pictures. I love showing off all the cute fur babies I meet!

What is your favorite product at The Pet Beastro and Why?

It has to be our Himalayan Cat toys that come in a variety of shapes. I have three cats and I've never seen them so excited over the same toy. We got the pumpkin Himalayan toy and Luna will carry it around with her everywhere. I can't wait to see what other shapes and sizes of the Himalayan toys she will love next!

What is your advice or best tip for pet parents?

Patience is key when testing out new foods or treats especially with our picky eaters that come in to the store, is vital! Animals with allergies don't understand that a treat or food is unhealthy for them. Sometimes, switching to new healthier foods can be tough. I have one cat that wouldn't eat for three days after switching to a better kibble! After adding a little Parmesan, she loves it now. The health benefits outweigh any stubbornness these animals have! Having the patience to make sure they're eating the best is sometimes difficult but very much worth it.

What do you most enjoy doing in your free time?

During my free time, I hang with my kitties. They are the best cuddle bugs and get bossy if we don't pet them enough. I also love board games, we have an extensive collection. Playing some video games or reading is always fun as well. My Spotify playlist always gets eclectic and interesting. I love crafting and making or building things as well as, drawing. Exploring different parts of Michigan is always exciting as well! I want to go to Mackinac next! I am from Florida so I haven't had an opportunity to explore all of Michigan yet.
